1. Youth - Daughter

I don’t know how I came across this today, but its amazing.

    Lyrics:

Shadows settle on the place, that you left.
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness.
Destroy the middle, it’s a waste of time.
From the perfect start to the finish line.

And if you’re still breathing, you’re the lucky ones.
‘Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs.
Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
    The lovers that went wrong.

    We are the reckless,
    We are the wild youth
    Chasing visions of our futures
One day we’ll reveal the truth
That one will die before he gets there.

And if you’re still bleeding, you’re the lucky ones.
‘Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone.
We’re setting fire to our insides for fun.
Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home,
It was a flood that wrecked this…

    … and you caused it…
    … and you caused it…
    … and you caused it…

Well I’ve lost it all, I’m just a silouhette,
A lifeless face that you’ll soon forget,
My eyes ae damp from the words you left,
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest.

And if you’re in love, then you are the lucky one,
‘Cause most of us are bitter over someone.
Setting fire to our insides for fun,
To distract our hearts from ever missing them.
    But I’m forever missing him.

    And you caused it,
    And you caused it,
    And you caused it

  2. Delta Spirit - California

This song has a way of getting into my head and taking me somewhere else. This past Sunday I listened to it 10 times in a row. I think I must have wanted someone to move on in my past and never had the words to say, then came this song. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess, and Delta Spirit is awesome.

  3. Charles Bradley - Lovin’ You, Baby

Sometimes a song just speaks to you. It comes along at that right second when you need to hear it and cuts you so deep. That’s what happened with this song today. The musicians are casual friends of mine and they’re amazing and the reason this came across my radar today. Just listen to it.

  4. Pixies - Here Comes Your Man

The Pixies are on of those bands you’re told you have to like when you claim yourself as a musician, a rock musician anyway. I rebelled from listening to them for years until Jon Davis from Superdrag told me I had to listen to their version of Wave of Mutilation. I was sold, Frank Black is such an amazing songwriter and the band as a whole swings in its own certain way.

Bockscar was the name of the B-29 Bomber that dropped “Fat Man” on Nagasaki in August of 1945. Think about that when you listen to this awesome song.

  5. Boxcar Racer - There Is

I was way into Pop Punk in High School. I thought Blink 182 was great and loved Travis Barker’s drumming. For whatever reason I came across this song today that I haven’t listened to in years. It’s right when everyone was going super emo. It totally resinated with me today.

  6. Foo Fighters - Wheels

I’m a huge Foo Fighters fan. Dave Grohl once sang My Hero to me from stage and then invited me and my friends backstage where we all got autographs. I’ve love them from the first record and as long as they keep squeezing out gems like this one I’ll always think of them as one of my all time favorite bands.
